...VERY WARM AND HUMID THE REMAINDER OF THIS AFTERNOON...

Late afternoon and early evening temperatures will persist in the
upper 80s to lower 90s..then fall back into the 80s this evening.
Dewpoints have risen to the mid 70s along a weak boundary resulting
in heat indices that will reach the upper 90s to lower 100s through
early evening.

If you have outdoor plans this afternoon or early evening...take
appropriate precautions and avoid prolonged strenuous activity
and overexertion. Consider scaling back your activities to avoid
heat related illnesses.

We will be heading into a stretch of very hot temperatures across
southern Iowa. Highs Tuesday will climb into the lower 90`s across
the south with mid to upper 90`s for Wednesday through Friday...
and may even extend into Saturday. Heat indicies will approach 100
degrees today and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday heat indicies
may climb to 105 to 110 range.

People should still plan for the heat and try and get the majority
of outdoor work done today and Tuesday. Limit exposure to the
outdoors mid to late week and make sure you drink plenty of water.
