URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...ICE STORM WINDING DOWN THIS EVENING...

.THE POTENT WINTER STORM THAT BROUGHT TWO TO FOUR TENTHS OF ICE
ACCUMULATIONS TO MUCH OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN IOWA YESTERDAY INTO
TODAY WAS NEARING THE KANSAS CITY METRO AREA LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND
SHOULD REACH ILLINOIS DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS TUESDAY.
ADDITIONAL LIGHT PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS WILL CONTINUE ALONG AND
NORTH OF ITS TRACK INTO TONIGHT. THE SIGNIFICANT ICING HAS ENDED
HOWEVER...SO ONLY WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES REMAIN OVER ROUGHLY
THE NORTH HALF OF THE STATE WHERE TEMPERATURES REMAIN AT OR JUST
BELOW FREEZING.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR LIGHT FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE,
WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT. THE ICE STORM
WARNING HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...ANY SIGNIFICANT ADDITIONAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS
  WITH THIS STORM HAVE ENDED...BUT RESIDUAL ICING AND MINOR
  ADDITIONAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS DUE TO INTERMITTENT LIGHT FREEZING
  RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE EVENING AS
  TEMPERATURES HOVER AROUND THE FREEZING MARK.

* IMPACTS...UNTREATED ROADS...SIDEWALKS AND PARKING LOTS WILL
  REMAIN SLICK AND ICE COVERED WITH HAZARDOUS TRAVEL.
