URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...BLIZZARD CONDITIONS POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT INTO MONDAY...

.COLDER AIR WILL SURGE INTO IOWA OVERNIGHT. THE COLDER AIR WILL
BRING THE STRONGEST WIND SPEEDS INTO THE STATE ALONG WITH PERIODS
OF SNOW SHOWERS...SOME OF WHICH WILL PRODUCE BRIEF BURSTS OF
HEAVIER SNOW. THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WIND PRODUCING BLOWING
SNOW AND SNOW SHOWERS WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN
VISIBILITY. DRIFTING SNOW ACROSS ROADWAYS WILL ALSO OCCUR AND ALL
OF THESE CONDITIONS WILL MAKE TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...WHITEOUT CONDITIONS ALREADY OCCURRING ACROSS
  FAR NORTHERN IOWA AND THESE CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD
  SOUTH OVERNIGHT INTO MONDAY. THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WIND
  PRODUCING SOME BLOWING SNOW... FALLING SNOW AND DRIFTING SNOW
  ACROSS ROADS WILL MAKE TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS OVERNIGHT INTO
  MONDAY MORNING.

* STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...AROUND AN INCH WITH NARROW
  BANDS OF LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...NORTHWEST WIND 25 TO 35 MPH WITH OCCASIONAL
  GUSTS TO NEAR 45 MPH. VISIBILITIES MAY DROP TO ONE QUARTER
  MILE OR LESS AT TIMES...PARTICULARLY IN OPEN AREAS AND DURING
  HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS.

* IMPACTS...CONSIDERABLE BLOWING SNOW AND RESTRICTED
  VISIBILITIES ALONG WITH DRIFTING SNOW WILL CAUSE DANGEROUS
  TRAVEL IN SOME AREAS...ESPECIALLY IN AREAS THAT ARE OPEN OR
  UNPROTECTED. CONDITIONS MAY CHANGE RAPIDLY...EVEN ACROSS
  INDIVIDUAL COUNTIES. WINDS OF THIS MAGNITUDE MAY ALSO AFFECT
  DRIVING OF LOW PROFILE VEHICLES AND LOOSE LIGHT WEIGHT
  OBJECTS.

A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS
AND POOR VISIBILITIES ARE LIKELY. THIS WILL LEAD TO WHITEOUT
CONDITIONS...MAKING TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. DO NOT TRAVEL. IF

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM
CST MONDAY.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...A STRONG NORTHWEST WIND WILL MOVE INTO THE
  AREA ALONG WITH SNOW SHOWERS. THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WIND AND
  FALLING SNOW WILL PRODUCE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND REDUCE
  VISIBILITY.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...NORTHWEST WIND WILL INCREASE TO 25 TO 30 MPH
  WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH. VISIBILITY WILL BE REDUCED TO BELOW A HALF
  MILE AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.

* IMPACTS...STRONG WIND AND FALLING SNOW WILL REDUCE VISIBILITY TO
  A HALF MILE AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS. THE WIND MAY
  ALSO PRODUCE DRIFTING SNOW AND THE COMBINATION OF REDUCED
  VISIBILITY AND DRIFTING SNOW WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY DIFFICULT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT
VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO STRONG WINDS BLOWING SNOW
