...MODERATE SNOW TO SPREAD ACROSS NORTHERN IOWA TONIGHT...

.LOW PRESSURE WILL PASS THROUGH SOUTHEAST IOWA TONIGHT AND PASS
INTO WISCONSIN BY SATURDAY MORNING. THE LOW WILL PRODUCE
WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION ACROSS MUCH OF IOWA DURING THE NIGHT WITH
MODERATE ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL ACROSS NORTHERN IOWA. THE SNOW IS
EXPECTED TO END BY SATURDAY MORNING AS THE SYSTEM PULLS AWAY FROM
THE STATE.

6 AM CST SATURDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS
EVENING TO 6 AM CST SATURDAY.

* TIMING...SNOW IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD INTO NORTHWEST IOWA BY LATE
  AFTERNOON INTO THE EARLY EVENING AND INCREASE IN INTENSITY. THE
  HEAVIEST SNOWFALL RATES ARE EXPECTED FROM 10 PM TO 4 AM BEFORE
  THE SNOW BEGINS TO DIMINISH AS THE SYSTEM PULLS TO THE
  NORTHEAST.

* STORM TOTAL SNOW...SNOW AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED BY
  SATURDAY MORNING WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS ALONG THE MINNESOTA
  BORDER.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...NORTH WINDS AT 10 TO 20 MPH ARE EXPECTED WITH
  SOME HIGHER GUSTS. THIS MAY LEAD TO SNOW BLOWING ACROSS ROADWAYS
  AND SOME REDUCTION IN VISIBILITIES TO BELOW ONE HALF MILE AT
  TIMES.

* IMPACTS...AS THE SNOW BEGINS...IT IS LIKELY TO MELT INITIALLY
  WITH TEMPERATURES NEAR FREEZING BEFORE REFREEZING AS READINGS
  FALL OVERNIGHT. THIS MAY CAUSE ICY CONDITIONS ON AREA ROADS
  LEADING TO HAZARDOUS TRAVEL. DRIVE SAFELY AND EXPECT LONGER
  TRAVEL TIMES.
