DURING THE LATTER PART OF THE MONTH...WITH HIGHS IN THE MID TO UPPER
90S FROM JULY 16TH TO 19TH FOLLOWED BY HIGHS ONLY IN THE 70S FROM
THE 27TH TO 30TH. LOWS DURING THIS COOL STRETCH DIPPED INTO THE
50S...WITH DES MOINES SETTING A RECORD LOW OF 51 DEGREES ON JULY 28.
THESE TWO BOUTS OF UNSEASONABLE TEMPERATURES EVENED OUT IN THE
END...WITH THE AVERAGE JULY TEMPERATURE ONLY 0.3 DEGREES BELOW
NORMAL.

PRECIPITATION WAS WELL BELOW NORMAL FOR THE MONTH WITH ONLY 1.02
INCHES OF RAIN FALLING...LESS THAN A QUARTER OF THE 30 YEAR AVERAGE
OF 4.47 INCHES. THIS WAS EVEN LESS THAN WHAT FELL IN JULY DURING THE
2012 DROUGHT (1.24 INCHES). THIS PLACES JULY OF 2013 AS THE 15TH
DRIEST JULY ON RECORD.
