...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTHWESTERN MERCER, CENTRAL ARMSTRONG, CENTRAL BUTLER,
SOUTHERN CLARION, NORTHEASTERN INDIANA, SOUTHERN JEFFERSON PA AND
NORTHERN LAWRENCE COUNTIES...
At 913 PM EDT, PENN DOT reported a landslide due to to the heavy
rainfall along Route 66 just north of New Bethlehem. Between 0.5 and
2 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
New Castle, Hermitage, Punxsutawney, Rimersburg, Shanor-Northvue,
Reynoldsville, New Wilmington, Oakwood, New Bethlehem, New Castle
Northwest, Mercer, Pulaski, Prospect, Sykesville, Chicora, East
Brady, New Bedford, West Middlesex, Plain Grove Township and Sligo.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
