COASTAL HAZARD MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TIYAN GU
300 AM CHST SAT JUL 26 2014

.OVERVIEW....A TROPICAL DISTURBANCE NEAR KOROR AND STRONG SOUTHWEST
MONSOON WINDS WILL GENERATE SWELL AND WIND WAVES CAPABLE OF
PRODUCING HAZARDOUS SURF ON KOROR AND YAP FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
SWELL AND WIND WAVES GENERATED BY A MONSOON SURGE ARE DIMINISHING
ACROSS CHUUK...POHNPEI AND KOSRAE STATES. HOWEVER...SWELL IS STILL
LARGE ENOUGH TO PRODUCE HAZARDOUS SURF AT CHUUK AND POHNPEI. SEAS
CONTINUE TO SUBSIDE IN KOSRAE STATE CAUSING SURF TO FALL BELOW
HAZARDOUS LEVELS ON KOSRAE.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY HAS BEEN CANCELLED...

SATELLITE-DERIVED SEA HEIGHTS AND COMPUTER MODEL GUIDANCE INDICATE
THAT SWELL AND WIND WAVES GENERATED BY STRONG MONSOON WINDS HAVE
SUBSIDED ENOUGH TO CAUSE SURF TO FALL BELOW HAZARDOUS LEVELS ON
KOSRAE. COMPUTER MODELS INDICATE ANOTHER HAZARDOUS SURF EVENT MAY
OCCUR EARLY NEXT WEEK IN ASSOCIATION WITH A DEVELOPING TROPICAL
DISTURBANCE IN POHNPEI STATE.

CONTINUE TO EXERCISE CAUTION ALONG REEF LINES AND BEACHES TODAY...
ESPECIALLY ALONG NORTHWEST AND WEST FACING SHORES...AS DANGEROUS RIP
CURRENTS CAN STILL OCCUR.
