JUNE BEGAN WITH A PERIOD OF COOL, WET WEATHER. RAIN FELL ON 6 OF THE
FIRST 7 DAYS OF THE MONTH. THEN A SHIFT IN THE WEATHER PATTERN BEGAN
WITH WARM, HUMID CONDITIONS ARRIVING, GIVING PORTLAND A TASTE OF
SUMMER. FROM JUNE 11 THRU JUNE 13 PORTLAND EXPERIENCED AFTERNOON
HIGHS NEAR 90 DEGREES. ALTHOUGH A BRIEF COOL DOWN FOLLOWED, MORE
WARM WEATHER WOULD SOON ARRIVE AGAIN. FROM THE 19TH THRU THE 25TH, 6
OUT OF 7 DAYS SAW THE TEMPERATURE TOP 80 DEGREES. THE WARM, HUMID
AIR FINALLY MOVED OUT ON JUNE 26, WITH COOL AND LESS HUMID
CONDITIONS FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH, ALONG WITH FREQUENT SHOWERS.
ALTHOUGH 20 OF THE 30 DAYS IN THE MONTH SAW RAINFALL, THE TOTAL RAIN
FOR THE MONTH WAS MORE THAN AN INCH BELOW NORMAL, AND THE DRIEST
JUNE IN MORE THAN A DECADE.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 65.0 DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.6
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AND THE 6TH WARMEST ON RECORD. THE WARMEST JUNE
WAS IN 2001 WHEN THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 67.1 DEGREES. THE
COLDEST WAS IN 1958 WHEN IT WAS ONLY 58.1 DEGREES. THE FOLLOWING

ON THE 6TH WHEN 0.72 INCHES WAS RECORDED. THE DRIEST JUNE ON RECORD
WAS IN 1908 WHEN ONLY 0.53 INCHES OF RAIN WAS OBSERVED. THE WETTEST
WAS IN 1917 WHEN 10.86 INCHES FELL.
