...Record Warm November and Autumn...

Autumn 2016 fell further behind schedule as warmer-than-normal
temperatures continued through November. Most areas were 6-8 degrees
above normal for the month. Wichita recorded its 2nd warmest
November on record (since 1888) with only 2 days below normal
throughout the month. It was Salina`s warmest November on record
(since 1894), with only 3 days below normal throughout the month.
Chanute recorded its 5th warmest November on record (since 1897),
with only 4 days below normal throughout the month.

The following are the top 5 warmest Novembers on record for Wichita,
Salina and Chanute. Units are in degrees Fahrenheit.

Meteorological fall (September-November) proved very warm overall as
well, with most areas averaging 5-6 degrees above normal for the 3-
month average. The following are the top 5 warmest Autumns on record
for Wichita, Salina and Chanute. Units are in degrees Fahrenheit.

...Wichita... ...Salina... ...Chanute...

Precipitation-wise, November was drier than normal for most areas
across the Kansas region, with most areas recording less than 25 to
50 percent of their monthly normal precipitation. In fact it was the
driest November since 2007 for many areas. However, the dryness was
nothing record-breaking. In contrast, Autumn (September-November)
precipitation had mixed results, with some areas well above normal
and others below. Wichita was one of a handful of sites with well
above normal precipitation, but a vast majority of this rainfall
occurred in September.

The following are Wichita`s top 5 wettest meteorological Autumns
(September-November). Units are in inches.

 2008 18.36 (12.96 occurred in September)
 1998 15.87 (9.42 occurred in October)
 1973 13.80 (9.46 occurred in September)
*2016 13.60 (11.30 occurred in September)
