848 AM CDT THU JUN 4 2015

...MODERATE DROUGHT ENDS NORTH OF INTERSTATE 90...

SYNOPSIS...

FROM MAY 26TH THROUGH JUNE 2ND...ANYWHERE FROM 0.30 INCHES
/BOSCOBEL WI/ TO 3.57 INCHES /NEAR LA CROSSE REGIONAL AIRPORT/ OF
RAIN FELL ACROSS THE AREA. NORMALLY AROUND AN INCH OF RAIN FALLS
DURING THIS TIME PERIOD. THIS RAIN HAS DECREASED THE PRECIPITATION
DEFICITS BY 1 TO 2 INCHES NORTH OF INTERSTATE 90. DUE TO
THIS...THE MODERATE DROUGHT /D1/ HAS BEEN REMO VED FROM THESE
AREAS.

DESPITE RECENT RAINS...1 TO 3 INCH PRECIPITATION DEFICITS /SINCE
NOVEMBER 1 2014/ STILL EXIST ACROSS NORTHERN BUFFALO AND EASTERN
TAYLOR COUNTY IN WESTERN WISCONSIN...AND THE NORTHERN PORTIONS OF
DODGE AND WABASHA COUNTIES IN SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA. DUE TO
THIS...THESE AREAS ARE STILL ABNORMALLY DRY /D0/.

IN THE JUNE 2ND RELEASE OF THE U.S. DROUGHT MONITOR...MODERATE
/D1/ DROUGHT WAS REPORTED ACROSS SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA...
NORTHEAST NEBRASKA...NORTHERN AND EAST-CENTRAL MINNESOTA... AND
PARTS OF NORTHERN AND WEST-CENTRAL WISCONSIN. ABNORMALLY DRY /D0/
CONDITIONS EXIST ACROSS WESTERN NORTH DAKOTA...WEST-CENTRAL
ILLINOIS...MUCH OF MINNESOTA...NORTH-CENTRAL WISCONSIN...FROM

RIVER AND STREAM FLOW CONDITIONS.

FOR MANY LOCATIONS...RECENT RAINS HAVE CAUSED FLOWS TO CLIMB
ABOVE 50 PERCENT OF CLIMATOLOGICAL NORMALS.

CLIMATOLOGICAL SUMMARY...

THROUGH MUCH OF THE 2014-15 WINTER...NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT KEPT
MUCH OF MINNESOTA AND WISCONSIN DRY. THIS TREND CONTINUED INTO THE
EARLY SPRING OF 2015. THIS ALLOWED THE PRECIPITATION DEFICITS TO
BUILD INTO 2 TO 4 INCH RANGE ACROSS PARTS OF SOUTHEAST
MINNESOTA...AND WEST-CENTRAL AND NORTH-CENTRAL WISCONSIN...AND
FROM 3 TO 6 INCHES ACROSS SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN AND PARTS OF
NORTHEAST IOWA. THIS RESULTED IN ABNORMALLY DRY /D0/ TO MODERATE
DROUGHT /D1/ CONDITIONS DEVELOPING ACROSS THESE AREAS.

HOWEVER...ABOVE-NORMAL APRIL AND MAY RAINS HAVE LOWERED THESE
PRECIPITATION DEFICITS BY 1 TO 2 INCHES. IN ADDITION...THESE RAINS
HAVE REPLENISHED THE MOISTURE IN THE TOP SOIL. DUE TO THIS...THE
ABNORMALLY DRY /D0/ AND MODERATE DROUGHT /D1/ CONDITIONS WERE
RECENTLY REMOVED ACROSS MANY AREAS NORTH OF INTERSTATE 90 IN
SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA AND WESTERN WISCONSIN. THIS LEAVES ONLY A
SMALL PORTION OF TAYLOR COUNTY IN NORTH-CENTRAL WISCONSIN AND
DODGE COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA.

PRECIPITATION/TEMPERATURE OUTLOOKS...

FROM JUNE 4TH THROUGH JUNE 9TH...BOTH TEMPERATURES AND
PRECIPITATION WILL AVERAGE BELOW-NORMAL. DURING THIS TIME
FRAME...THE DAILY AVERAGE TEMPERATURES RANGE FROM 62 TO 67 DEGREES
AND THE NORMAL PRECIPITATION IS AROUND 9 TENTHS OF AN INCH.

FROM JUNE 10TH THROUGH JUNE 16TH...THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER
/CPC/ IS FORECASTING NEAR-NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND BELOW-NORMAL
PRECIPITATION. DURING THIS TIME FRAME...THE DAILY AVERAGE
TEMPERATURES RANGE FROM 64 TO 69 DEGREES AND THE NORMAL
PRECIPITATION IS AROUND AN INCH.

THE CPC SEASONAL OUTLOOK FOR SUMMER OF 2015 CALLS FOR EQUAL
CHANCES OF BELOW-...NEAR-...AND ABOVE-NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND
PRECIPITATION. THEIR FORECAST BELOW IS BASED UPON A WEAK EL NINO
AND ABNORMALLY-WARM WATERS IN THE NORTHEAST PACIFIC.

HYDROLOGIC SUMMARY AND OUTLOOK...

FOR MANY LOCATIONS...RECENT RAINS HAVE CAUSED FLOWS TO CLIMB
ABOVE 50 PERCENT OF CLIMATOLOGICAL NORMALS.

THE CPC SEASONAL OUTLOOK FOR SUMMER OF 2015 CALLS FOR EQUAL
CHANCES OF BELOW-...NEAR-...AND ABOVE-NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND
PRECIPITATION. THEIR FORECAST BELOW IS BASED UPON A WEAK EL NINO
AND ABNORMALLY-WARM WATERS IN THE NORTHEAST PACIFIC.
