...HEAVY RAIN FOR SOUTHEAST ALASKA THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY...

MOISTURE FROM EX-HURRICANE LESTER WILL MOVE OVER SOUTHEAST ALASKA
THURSDAY NIGHT AND PERSIST INTO EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. RAIN
AMOUNTS ACROSS THE AREA WILL RANGE FROM 2 TO 5 INCHES WITH LOCALLY
HIGHER AMOUNTS OF 5 TO 8 INCHES AT HIGH ELEVATIONS. THE HEAVY
RAIN WILL AFFECT THE ENTIRE PANHANDLE WITH THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE
HIGHEST RAIN AMOUNTS WILL BE OVER THE NORTH-CENTRAL INNER
CHANNELS. THERE IS NO FLOODING EXPECTED AT THIS TIME. DUE TO THE
ORIGIN OF THIS SYSTEM AND THE DURATION OF HEAVY RAIN PEOPLE WHO
LIVE OR RECREATE NEAR SMALL STREAMS SHOULD REMAIN ALERT FOR FLOOD
WATCHES OR ADVISORIES THAT MAYBE ISSUED.

THE STORM MAY PRODUCE RAIN RATES RANGING FROM 0.2 TO 0.3 INCHES
PER HOUR. PERSISTENT HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE SHARP RIVER RISES
OVER MOST SMALL STREAMS. AT THIS TIME MOST SMALL STREAMS AND RIVERS
ARE LOW BUT BY LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING TIME FRAME
MOST SMALL STREAMS WILL BE NEAR BANKFUL.

THIS STATEMENT WILL BE UPDATED AT 400 PM AKDT THURSDAY OR SOONER
IF CONDITIONS WARRANT.
