BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAND RAPIDS MI
934 PM EDT THU APR 20 2017

...The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a flood
warning for the following rivers in Southwest Lower Michigan...

Portage River Near Vicksburg affecting Kalamazoo County

.The last 24 hours brought rainfall totals nearing one inch in some
places with basin averages between one-half and one-quarter of an
inch. Saturated soils and elevated river levels have experienced
quick responses and will continue to see rises over the next several
days. Fortunately, dry weather is forecast through the weekend and
into early next week, which will provide plenty of response time for
runoff to make it downstream. Active weather is expected to return
through the middle of next week. The following forecast is based on
observed and forecast 24 hour precipitation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety message...Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock
you off your feet... and a depth of 2 feet will float your car.
Never try to walk... swim... or drive through such swift water. If
you come upon flood waters... stop... turn around and go another way.

This warning will be in effect until the river falls below its flood
stage.

Stay tuned to further developments by listening to your local
radio... television... or NOAA Weather Radio station for further
information.
