Fire Weather Planning Forecast
National Weather Service Lake Charles LA
505 AM CDT Wed Aug 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...
Looking for afternoon showers and thunderstorms today as heating
allows development of storms. Storms are expected to taper off
during the evening hours. Our weather will be changing over the
next several days as high pressure currently over the region shifts
eastward allowing a cold front to drop into the coastal waters by
Thursday morning. The other issue is Harvey is expected to strengthen
and guidance is suggesting that it will make landfall along the central
Texas coast late Friday. The system is then expected to stall before
moving slowly off to the east-northeast and across southern Louisiana
over the weekend. This system is expected to produce heavy rains across
southeast Texas and central and southern Louisiana. Rainfall totals
will range from five to eight inches through this period with much higher
amounts possible...above ten inches.
