FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS AREA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX
333 AM CDT THU MAY 26 2016

.DISCUSSION...
ALL BUT THE FAR SOUTHWEST TEXAS PANHANDLE WAS AGAIN EXPERIENCING
GOOD MOISTURE RECOVERY EARLY THIS MORNING. HOWEVER, THE DRYLINE (AND
THE MOISTURE) WILL SURGE EAST AGAIN DURING THE DAY AS GUSTY AND DRY
SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS SPREAD OVER THE REGION. RH VALUES WILL FALL INTO
THE SINGLE DIGITS FOR MOST SPOTS ON THE CAPROCK WHILE SUSTAINED 20
FT WIND SPEEDS REACH 20 TO 25 MPH. EVEN THOUGH THE WIND AND RH
COMBINATION WILL RESULT IN CRITICAL METEOROLOGICAL FIRE WEATHER, THE
RECENT ROBUST GREEN-UP OF THE FUELS WILL MITIGATE THIS AND KEEP
THE OVERALL FIRE DANGER LOW. WHERE THE DRYLINE DOES SETUP THIS
AFTERNOON ISOLATED SEVERE STORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER THE EASTERN
ROLLING PLAINS. WARM...DRY AND BREEZY WESTERLY WINDS WILL REVISIT
THE SOUTH PLAINS REGION ON FRIDAY...THOUGH WIND SPEEDS SHOULD BE
A NOTCH LOWER THAN TODAY. AFTER A DRY SATURDAY SHOWER AND STORM
CHANCES WILL RETURN SUNDAY AND PERSIST WELL INTO NEXT WEEK.
