NWS ALASKA PACIFIC RIVER FORECAST CENTER ANCHORAGE AK
300 PM AKDT MON AUG 21 2017

...FLOOD POTENTIAL...

FLOODING FOR THE TETLIN ROAD AT MILE 5.3 CONTINUES. TANANA RIVER IS
RECEDING... BUT IT WILL TAKE A FEW MORE DAYS FOR THE WATER TO CLEAR
THE ROAD.

HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED OVER PORTIONS OF THE PANHANDLE ON MONDAY... WILL
RESULT IN HIGH WATER FOR RIVERS AND STREAMS. THE POTENTIAL FOR MUD
SLIDES WILL ALSO INCREASE.

THE FLOOD POTENTIAL IS CURRENTLY LOW FOR THE REST OF THE STATE.

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION....

THE UPPER LEVEL LOW OVER THE SOUTHWEST MAINLAND ON SUNDAY HAS MADE
THE TRANSITION INTO THE GULF EARLY THIS MORNING. A FETCH OF DEEP
MOISTURE FROM ACROSS THE PACIFIC HAS DEVELOPED IN RESPONSE TO THIS
MOVEMENT AND WAS DIRECTED OVER THE PANHANDLE. THIS LOW IS NOT
EXPECTED TO PASS INTO CANADA UNTIL LATE WEDNESDAY. IN THE
MEANTIME... ANOTHER LOW WILL APPROACH NORTHWEST ALASKA BY MONDAY
NIGHT.

RAIN IS EXPECTED FROM THE ANCHORAGE BOWL AND WESTERN KENAI
PENINSULA... DOWN THROUGH THE GULF COAST AND ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST.
THE HEAVIEST AREA WILL OVER THE SOUTHERN PANHANDLE WHERE AMOUNTS
COULD RANGE AS HIGH AS 5 INCHES IN THE COASTAL MOUNTAINS. ON DAY TWO
RAINFALL AMOUNTS REALLY TAPPER OFF OVER THE SOUTHEAST AND GULF COAST
WITH UP TO 0.75 INCHES OF RAIN ENTERING THE NORTHWEST PART OF THE
STATE.
