...Ice Jam Locations as of 1213 PM JAN 19...

The following are locations of ice jams in northern New York and
north and central Vermont.

Ausable River       Clintonville   Emergency Mgmt     Clinton      NY
Old Ausable ice from 1/12 is jammed from the Clintonville Bridge
downstream to the Northway crossing.

Ausable River       Ausable Forks  Emergency Mgmt     Clinton      NY
Ice jam at the base of the Route 9 bridge.

Saranac River       Plattsburgh    Emergency Mgmt     Clinton      NY
An ice jam is in place from the footbridge at SUNY Plattsburgh to
just downstream. Major flooding occurred at the Underwood Estates
Mobile Home Park. 50 homes damaged; 25 estimated a total loss.

Saranac River       Plattsburgh    Emergency Mgmt     Clinton      NY
An ice jam remains in place from the St Catherine Street bridge
downstream to Lake Champlain. A channel has been cleared to allow
water through.

Ausable River       Ausable Chasm  Law Enforcement    Clinton      NY
Ice is jammed up from below the chasm to the lake.

Little Salmon River Fort Covington Law Enforcement    Franklin     NY
Fort Covington Fire and Rescue reports a total of 5 ice jams in
the town. Jams are scattered from the international border to just
south of town.

Missisquoi River    Swanton        Law Enforcement    Franklin     VT
An ice jam extends from the mouth of the river to about 1 mile
upstream of Depot St bridge in Swanton

Lamoille            Johnson        Emergency Mgmt     Lamoille     VT
Ice jam located at bend in river between Route 15 (Lower Main St W)
and River Rd West. Ice backed up downstream to Ithiel Falls and
upstream past Johnson Village. Flooding occurred along Route 15 in
Johnson Village as well as Railroad Street. Backup of Gihorn was
the main culprit.

Winooski            Middlesex      NWS Employee       Washington   VT
An ice jam is in place near Middlesex. Water is flowing through
and/or around it with no known issues.


Ice jams can remain in place and become a focus for flooding when
rivers rise due to a thaw and/or rainfall. Ice jams are very
unpredictable and can form, move, and release very quickly. Please
report ice jams to the national weather service at
http://www.weather.gov/btv/stormreport or through social media.
