.DISCUSSION...Skies will becoming mostly sunny today. Winds will
become northwest and average 12 to 24 MPH with frequent gusts to
30 MPH over northwest South Dakota. Highs will reach 93 to 103
with minimum relative humidities ranging from the teens over
northwest South Dakota to the 20s over central South Dakota.
Isolated thunderstorms possible over central South Dakota late.

...Extreme Fire Danger...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the extreme category
this afternoon. Extreme weather conditions or a very low moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that critical burning conditions exist. A fire will
start easily and has the potential to become large and spread
quickly becoming erratic with extreme behavioral characteristics.
No outdoor burning should take place.

The outlook for Saturday afternoon, The grassland fire danger
index will reach the high category to very high category.

this afternoon. Very poor weather conditions or a very low
moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic material on
the ground, indicate that dangerous burning conditions exist.
Fires will spread rapidly and show erratic behavior. Outdoor
burning is not recommended.

The outlook for Saturday afternoon, The grassland fire danger
index will reach the high category to very high category.

afternoon. Unfavorable weather conditions or a low moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that there is a moderate to high potential for a fire
occurrence. Outdoor burning should be restricted to early morning
or evening hours when wind speeds are usually lower and the
relative humidity is higher.

The outlook for Saturday afternoon, The grassland fire danger
index will reach the high category.
