...RIVER STATEMENT FOR THE LOWER CAHABA RIVER...

THE CAHABA RIVER HAS CRESTED AT MARION JUNCTION...AND WILL
CONTINUE TO FALL.

THE CAHABA RIVER AT MARION JUNCTION.
 LATEST STAGE:     20.1 FEET AT 11 PM THURSDAY.
 CAUTION STAGE:    15 FEET.
 FLOOD STAGE:      36 FEET.
 FORECAST:         SLOW FALL OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

* IMPACT...AT 15 FEET...FLOODING AROUND OAKMULGEE CREEK BEGINS AND
  CATTLE NEED TO BE MOVED TO HIGHER GROUND.  OVERFLOW OF PASTURE
  LANDS INCREASES AT STAGES ABOVE 20 FEET.


PLEASE STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR LOCAL MEDIA FOR LATER
STATEMENTS CONCERNING THIS EVENT.

IT IS EMPHASIZED THAT THESE FORECASTS ARE BASED ON RAINFALL THAT HAS
ALREADY OCCURRED AND ON ADDITIONAL RAINFALL EXPECTED TODAY AND
TONIGHT.  IF MORE RAINFALL THAN IS CURRENTLY FORECAST OCCURS IT MAY
BECOME NECESSARY TO REVISE THESE FORECASTS UPWARD.

ANOTHER STATEMENT WILL BE ISSUED FRIDAY MORNING...OR SOONER IF
CONDITIONS WARRANT.
