...Strong wind gusts will occur across the southern Piedmont,
Sandhills, and the southern coastal plain of central North
Carolina this afternoon...

Expect strong wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph this afternoon
ahead of a cold front crossing the region. Winds of this
magnitude will be capable of knocking down large tree limbs. For
your safety, you may not want to venture into wooded areas.

The winds will subside after 4 PM though gusts between 20 and 30
mph are expected through 6 PM.
