URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...Snow showers have ended this evening but some black ice
conditions may remain, along with bitterly cold wind chills
tonight across portions of the North Carolina mountains...

.Northwesterly winds will continue to increase behind a recently
passed strong cold front through tonight. Though snow showers have
tapered off, some black ice may develop overnight. Quickly
dropping temperatures combined with gusty winds will yield
bitterly cold wind chills across portions of the high terrain.

* WHAT...Black ice expected. Very cold wind chills expected. Plan
  on slippery road conditions. Expect wind chills to range from
  5 above zero to 10 below zero.

* WHERE...Avery, Yancey and Mitchell Counties.

* WHEN...until 7 AM EST Wednesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for reduced visibilities at
  times. The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little
  as 30 minutes to exposed skin.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


A Winter Weather Advisory for Black Ice means that refreezing of
roads will occur...resulting in the development of widespread
black ice. Be prepared for very slippery roadways. Some roads that
appear clear may be covered by a thin layer of ice.

Please report snow and ice accumulations by calling the National
Weather Service toll free at...1...800...2 6 7...8 1 0 1. Leave a
message with your observation and the specific location where it
occurred. You can also post your report to National Weather
Service Greenville Spartanburg Facebook or tweet your report using
