A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST THURSDAY.

* TIMING: THE MAIN CHANGEOVER LINE FROM FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET TO
  SNOW WAS ALONG A LINE FROM FROM MARBLE HILL MISSOURI TO MARION
  ILLINOIS TO EVANSVILLE INDIANA. SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN EXTENDED
  SOUTH TO A DEXTER MISSOURI TO METROPOLIS ILLINOIS TO NEAR
  HENDERSON KENTUCKY. AS COLDER AIR MOVES IN...THESE AREAS WILL
  MOVE SOUTH THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN WILL
  SPREAD SOUTHWARD ACROSS KENTUCKY AND FAR SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
  EARLY THIS AFTERNOON AND SNOW WILL FOLLOW. BY 6 PM IT SHOULD BE
  ALL SNOW NORTH OF A LINE FROM MAYFIELD TO CALHOUN KENTUCKY WITH
  SLEET TO THE SOUTH. THE SLEET WILL CHANGEOVER TO SNOW OVER THE
  REMAINING AREA BY 9 PM. SNOW WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY
  LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING. THE SNOW WILL TAPER OFF
  FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST AFTER MIDNIGHT.

* MAIN IMPACT: BY EARLY THURSDAY MORNING...SNOWFALL TOTALS ARE
  EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM FOUR TO SIX INCHES GENERALLY NORTH AND
  WEST OF A LINE FROM MOUNT CARMEL ILLINOIS TO PERRYVILLE AND
  VAN BUREN MISSOURI. SOUTH AND EAST OF THAT LINE...SIX TO EIGHT
  INCHES IS FORECAST. AN EIGHT TO TEN INCH SWATH OF SNOWFALL IS
  POSSIBLE GENERALLY TWENTY-FIVE MILES EITHER SIDE OF A LINE
  FROM SIKESTON MISSOURI TO PADUCAH AND MADISONVILLE KENTUCKY
  KENTUCKY. ONE HALF TO ONE INCH OF SLEET MAY FALL PRIOR TO THE
  SNOW. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT IF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET
  PERSIST LONGER THAN EXPECTED...SNOW AMOUNTS MAY NOT BE AS
  HIGH.

* OTHER IMPACTS: THIS QUANTITY OF SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATION
  WILL PRODUCE TREACHEROUS CONDITIONS AND CAUSE SIGNIFICANT
  TRAVEL ISSUES ACROSS THE REGION. ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES WILL
  ALSO BE POSSIBLE. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES AND POSSIBLE
  ADJUSTMENTS TO SNOWFALL TOTALS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW...
SLEET...AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO
POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
