...FOG EXPECTED OVERNIGHT...

FOG WAS FAIRLY WIDESPREAD ACROSS CENTRAL AND NORTH-CENTRAL
WISCONSIN AS OF LATE FRIDAY EVENING. THE VISIBILITY REPORTED BY
MOST WEATHER OBSERVING SYSTEMS ACROSS THOSE AREAS WAS BETWEEN 1/2
MILE AND 2 MILES...WHICH GENERALLY ALLOWS FOR SAFE TRAVEL AT THE
POSTED SPEED LIMIT. BUT THE FOG IS EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY THICKEN
OVERNIGHT...WITH VISIBILITIES FALLING BELOW 1/4 MILE AT TIMES.
MOTORISTS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR THE DECREASE IN VISIBILITY...
WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY NECESSITATE SLOWER TRAVEL.

MEANWHILE...FOG IS EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY FORM AND THICKEN IN
EASTERN WISCONSIN AS WELL. THOUGH LOW VISIBILITIES WILL PROBABLY
NOT BE AS WIDESPREAD AS FARTHER WEST...PATCHES OF DENSE FOG OVER
EASTERN WISCONSIN COULD RESULT IN LOCALLY HAZARDOUS TRAVEL
CONDITIONS LATER IN THE NIGHT AND SATURDAY MORNING.

PAVEMENT SENSORS INDICATED THAT ROAD SURFACE TEMPERATURES WERE A
COUPLE DEGREES ABOVE FREEZING AT LOCATIONS SOUTH OF HIGHWAY
29...WHICH RUNS FROM WAUSAU...TO SHAWANO...TO GREEN BAY...TO
KEWAUNEE. ROAD TEMPERATURES TO THE NORTH WERE A DEGREE OR TWO
BELOW FREEZING. THE COMBINATION OF SUB-FREEZING ROAD TEMPERATURES
AND AMPLE LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE COULD RESULT IN THE FORMATION OF
SLIPPERY SPOTS ON ROADWAY ACROSS NORTHERN WISCONSIN BY MORNING.

ANYONE TRAVELING OVERNIGHT OR EARLY SATURDAY MORNING SHOULD EXPECT
TO ENCOUNTER FOG...AND POSSIBLY SOME SLIPPERY SPOTS ON AREA
ROADWAYS. USE CAUTION...AND PLAN ON NEEDING A LITTLE EXTRA TIME TO
REACH YOUR DESTINATION.
