...Water levels are high or forecast to have significant rises for
the following rivers or creeks: Maple River at Maple Rapids...Pere
Marquette River at Scottville...White River at Whitehall...
.Rainfall amounts ranging from 1 to 2.5 inches have been reported
between Muskegon... Ludington... and Houghton Lake as of Friday
morning. River levels are rising as a result... and the following
rivers will approach and potentially exceed bankfull over the next
several days. The following forecast is based on observed and
forecast 48 hour precipitation.
For the Maple River At Maple Rapids... the latest stage was 3.9 feet
at 9 PM Friday. No significant flooding is forecast. The maximum
stage forecasted is 7.6 feet early Tuesday morning. Flood stage is
9.0 feet. At 7.0 feet... River is bankfull. Expect minor flooding in
low lying pastures, farmland, and wooded areas adjacent to the river.
For the Pere Marquette River Near Scottville... the latest stage was
2.8 feet at 9 PM Friday. No significant flooding is forecast. The
maximum stage forecasted is 4.1 feet Monday morning. Flood stage is
5.5 feet. At 4.0 feet... River is bankfull, and overflow of low
lying areas adjacent to the river occurs.
For the White River Above Whitehall... the latest stage was 3.2 feet
at 9 PM Friday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage
forecasted is 4.3 feet early Sunday morning. Flood stage is 6.0
feet. At 5.0 feet... River is bankfull, and overflow begins in low
