Water levels are forecast to rise toward bankfull on the following
rivers...

Grand River at Comstock Park...
Red Cedar River at Williamston and East Lansing...
Flat River at Smyrna...
Kalamazoo River at New Richmond...
Portage River near Vicksburg...

.A half to one inch of rain fell across much of the area Monday into
Tuesday, and this water will run off into already swollen rivers.
The following rivers are expected to rise toward bankfull this week,
and there is some possibility for them to rise above bankfull. If a
river rises above bankfull, a flood advisory will be issued. The
following forecast is based on observed and forecast 48 hour
precipitation.

For the Grand River Near Comstock Park... the latest stage was 9.7
feet at 9 AM Tuesday. No significant flooding is forecast. The
maximum stage forecasted is 11.1 feet early Saturday morning.  Flood
stage is 12.0 feet.  At 11.0 feet... River is bankfull.

For the Red Cedar River Above Williamston... the latest stage was 5.8
feet at 11 AM Tuesday. No significant flooding is forecast. The
maximum stage forecasted is 7.5 feet Friday morning. Flood stage is
9.0 feet. At 8.0 feet... Expect minor flooding of golf course and
adjacent park in Williamston.

For the Red Cedar River At East Lansing... the latest stage was 4.8
feet at 11 AM Tuesday. No significant flooding is forecast. The
maximum stage forecasted is 6.4 feet Friday evening. Flood stage is
7.0 feet. At 6.0 feet... River reaches bankfull and low lying areas
flood.

For the Flat River Near Smyrna... the latest stage was 4.2 feet at 11
AM Tuesday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage forecasted is
5.5 feet early Sunday morning. Flood stage is 8.5 feet.

For the Kalamazoo River Near New Richmond... the latest stage was
14.2 feet at 12 PM Tuesday. No significant flooding is forecast. The
maximum stage forecasted is 15.2 feet Thursday evening. Flood stage
is 17.0 feet. At 15.0 feet... River is bankfull and begins to spill
over into large swampy areas along the river. The Boardwalk along the
river would become flooded.

For the Portage River Near Vicksburg... no observed stage was
available. The river level was estimated to be around 4.8 feet at 11
AM Tuesday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage forecasted is
4.9 feet Tuesday evening. Flood stage is 5.0 feet. At 5.0 feet...
Expect overflows into wooded areas and farmland adjacent to the
river.
