HYDROLOGIC STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAND RAPIDS MI
905 PM EST SAT DEC 24 2016

...Water levels are high or forecast to have significant rises for
the following rivers or creeks:  Grand River at Ionia...Lowell...
Sycamore Creek at Holt...Red Cedar at Williamston...Looking Glass
River at Eagle...Maple River at Maple Rapids...Thornapple River at
Hastings...

.The combination of snowmelt from above normal temperatures on
Monday... plus at least a quarter inch of rainfall... will produce
significant rises on area rivers. Rivers may rise above bankfull
during the week. The following forecasts are based on observed and
forecast 48 hour precipitation.

For the Grand River At Ionia... the latest stage was 11.4 feet at 9
PM Saturday.   No flooding is forecast.  The maximum stage forecasted
is 16.2 feet Thursday morning.  Flood stage is 21.0 feet.

For the Grand River At Lowell... no observed stage was available.  No
flooding is forecast.  The maximum stage forecasted is 10.0 feet
early Friday morning.  Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

For the Sycamore Creek At Holt... no observed stage was available.
No flooding is forecast.  The maximum stage forecasted is 6.8 feet
early Tuesday morning.  Flood stage is 8.0 feet.  At 6.0 feet...
Flooding begins in low lying areas along the creek and at the Lansing
Municipal Golf Course and Scott Woods Park.

For the Red Cedar River Above Williamston... the latest stage was 4.4
feet at 8 PM Saturday.   No flooding is forecast.  The maximum stage
forecasted is 7.1 feet Thursday early afternoon.  Flood stage is 9.0
feet.  At 7.0 feet... River is bankfull. Overflow begins in low lying
areas adjacent to the river.

For the Looking Glass River Near Eagle... the latest stage was 3.8
feet at 9 PM Saturday.   No flooding is forecast.  The maximum stage
forecasted is 6.3 feet Wednesday morning.  Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
At 6.0 feet... Expect minor flooding of low lying wooded areas.

For the Maple River At Maple Rapids... the latest stage was 4.8 feet
at 8 PM Saturday.   No flooding is forecast.  The maximum stage
forecasted is 7.7 feet Wednesday evening.  Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
At 7.0 feet... River is bankfull. Expect minor flooding in low lying
pastures, farmland, and wooded areas adjacent to the river.

For the Thornapple River Above Hastings... the latest stage was 3.6
feet at 8 PM Saturday.   No flooding is forecast.  The maximum stage
forecasted is 5.6 feet Wednesday evening.  Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
At 5.0 feet... River is bankfull. Expect minor flooding of low lying
areas and farmland adjacent to the river.

Safety message...Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
