...Water levels are forecast to rise near bankfull on the following
rivers or creeks: Grand River at Comstock Park...Flat River at
Smyrna...Kalamazoo River at New Richmond...
.Recent rainfall is running off into already swollen rivers. These
rivers will approach and possibly exceed bankfull over the next
several days. Very little flooding is expected. The following
forecast is based on observed and forecast 48 hour precipitation.
For the Grand River Near Comstock Park... the latest stage was 10.1
feet at 12 PM Wednesday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage
forecasted is 11.0 feet Friday evening. Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
At 11.0 feet... the river is bankfull.
For the Flat River Near Smyrna... the latest stage was 4.5 feet at 10
AM Wednesday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage forecasted
is 5.5 feet Monday morning. Flood stage is 8.5 feet. At 5.5 feet...
the river is bankfull.
For the Kalamazoo River Near New Richmond... the latest stage was
14.2 feet at 11 AM Wednesday. No significant flooding is forecast.
The maximum stage forecasted is 15.1 feet early Friday morning.
Flood stage is 17.0 feet. At 15.0 feet... River is bankfull and
begins to spill over into large swampy areas along the river.
Boardwalk along the river would become flooded.
