...Water levels are high or forecast to have significant rises for
the following rivers or creeks: Grand River at Comstock Park...Flat
River at Smyrna...Thornapple River at Caledonia...Kalamazoo River at
.River levels will continue to be elevated with additional rainfall
expected through Friday. The following forecast is based on
observed and forecast 48 hour precipitation.
For the Grand River Near Comstock Park... the latest stage was 10.2
feet at 5 PM Wednesday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage
forecasted is 11.3 feet Sunday evening. Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
At 11.0 feet... River is bankfull..
For the Flat River Near Smyrna... the latest stage was 4.6 feet at 8
PM Wednesday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage
forecasted is 5.7 feet Monday morning. Flood stage is 8.5 feet.
For the Thornapple River Near Caledonia... the latest stage was 6.8
feet at 8 PM Wednesday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage
forecasted is 8.1 feet Sunday evening. Flood stage is 10.0 feet. At
8.0 feet... River is bankfull. Expect overflow into low lying areas
along the river..
For the Kalamazoo River Near New Richmond... the latest stage was
14.3 feet at 9 PM Wednesday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum
stage forecasted is 15.0 feet tomorrow evening. Flood stage is 17.0
feet. At 15.0 feet... River is bankfull and begins to spill over
into large swampy areas along the river. Boardwalk along the river
would become flooded..
