OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...High pressure of 30.4 inches will move off the
Atlantic coast today, while low pressure of 29.3 inches passes
well north of the Lakes across Hudson Bay. A cold front trailing
this low will move across the lake late this afternoon into this
evening. High pressure of 30.3 inches will move into the Ohio
Valley by early Sunday, with weaker ridging extending north
across the western Lakes. Low pressure of 29.6 inches will move
northeast from the Plains to the northern Lakes by Sunday night,
trailing a cold front across northern parts of the Lake early
Monday. This front will become nearly stationary, with another
low of 29.7 inches tracking along the boundary and across the
lake later in the day. Another weak wave will move along the
front on Tuesday, before the front slowly moves southeast Tuesday
night. High pressure of 30.6 inches builds into the region early
Thursday.

EVENING...

.REST OF TODAY...Southwest winds to 30 kt, with a few gale force
gusts to 35 kt this morning. Chance of snow mainly this
afternoon. Waves 5 to 8 ft occasionally to 10 ft building to 7 to
10 ft occasionally to 13 ft from late morning on.
.TONIGHT...West winds to 30 kt diminishing to 10 to 20 kt. Slight
chance of snow in the evening. Waves 5 to 8 ft occasionally to
10 ft subsiding to 4 to 7 ft occasionally 9 ft tonight.
.SUNDAY...West winds 5 to 10 kt becoming south 10 to 20 kt late
in the morning...then increasing to gales to 35 kt early in the
afternoon increasing to gales to 40 kt late. Chance of snow in
the afternoon. Waves 3 to 5 ft building to 8 to 12 ft
occasionally to 16 ft.
.SUNDAY NIGHT...South gales to 40 kt becoming southwest to 30 kt
overnight. Chance of snow in the evening. Waves 10 to 14 ft
occasionally to 18 ft subsiding to 8 to 11 ft occasionally to
14 ft.
.MONDAY...North winds 10 to 20 kt becoming northeast 15 to 25 kt.
Chance of snow and rain showers in the morning...then rain and
snow showers in the afternoon. Waves 4 to 6 ft occasionally to
8 ft building to 4 to 7 ft occasionally to 9 ft.
.MONDAY NIGHT...Northeast winds 15 to 25 kt diminishing to 10 to
20 kt. Snow showers likely, possibly mixed with rain, freezing
rain and sleet. Waves 5 to 8 ft occasionally to 10 ft subsiding
to 4 to 7 ft occasionally to 9 ft.
.TUESDAY...Northeast winds 10 to 20 kt becoming north. Sleet,
rain showers, snow showers likely with a chance of freezing rain.
