OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
846 PM CDT Wed Apr 10 2024

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Light south winds will continue to turn easterly to northeasterly
overnight as low pressure of 29.5 inches over the lower
Mississippi River Valley continues to move northeastward towards
the Great Lakes region. The low will deepen to 29.1 inches and
track southeast of Lake Michigan towards Lake Erie by Thursday
evening and will continue to turn winds northerly to
northwesterly throughout the day on Thursday. The tightened
pressure gradient associated with the low brings the possibility
of gale force winds to primarily the northern and eastern portions
of Lake Michigan. As such, a gale watch is currently in effect Thursday
evening through Friday evening. The low will continue into Quebec
by Friday evening, allowing for winds to decelerate across the
lake overnight Friday into Saturday.
