AND DOWN AND SOME IN QUICK SUCCESSION...THE RATE OF WEATHER
CHANGES EARLY THIS APRIL HAVE BEEN IMPRESSIVE. OF NOTE WERE THE
TEMPERATURES ALONE ON SUNDAY APRIL 3RD. AFTER A CHILLY MORNING BY
APRIL STANDARDS WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE 20S...LATE AFTERNOON
HIGHS REBOUNDED INTO THE 70S. HERE IS HOW THIS SINGLE DAY...OR
DIURNAL...TEMPERATURE CHANGE COMPARES TO PAST EXTREME RANGES.

- WITH A LOW OF 27 AND A HIGH OF 75 ON SUNDAY APRIL 3RD...THERE WAS
  A TOTAL DIURNAL RANGE OF 48 DEGREES.

- THIS WAS THE FIFTH LARGEST DIURNAL CHANGE IN THE PERIOD OF RECORD
  FOR ROCKFORD /SINCE 1905/.

- THIS WAS TIED FOR THE 13TH LARGEST CALENDAR DAY TEMPERATURE
  CHANGE IN THE PERIOD OF RECORD /SINCE 1871/. THE LARGEST WAS 52
  DEGREES ON FEBRUARY 8TH 1900...WHICH SAW A LOW OF 10 AND A HIGH
  OF 62.

- THIS WAS THE LARGEST DIURNAL TEMPERATURE RANGE ON AN APRIL DAY
  SINCE APRIL 20 1936...WHICH SAW A 47 DEGREE RANGE FROM A LOW OF
  35 TO A HIGH OF 82.
