...A Look Back at the Climate for the Month of January 2017 for
Chicago and Rockford...

At Chicago, the average high temperature was 34.6 degrees, which
is 3.6 degrees above normal. The average low temperature was 23.0
degrees, which is 6.5 degrees above normal. The average
temperature for the month was 28.8 degrees which is 5.0 degrees
above normal. During the month of January, 2.87 inches of
precipitation was recorded, which is 1.14 inches above normal.
0.6 inches of snow was recorded, which is 10.2 inches below
normal.

One record was set for Chicago for the month of January 2017:
* Record daily precipitation of 0.90 inches on the 16th.

One Top Ten Monthly Record:
**6th least snowiest January on record since 1885 with 0.6
inches.


At Rockford, the average high temperature was 33.6 degrees, which
is 4.1 degrees above normal. The average low temperature was 21.5
degrees, which is 8.0 degrees above normal. The average
temperature for the month was 27.6 degrees, which is 6.1 degrees

precipitation was recorded, which is 0.88 inches above normal.
