...DANGEROUS HEAT IN SOUTHERN WISCONSIN TODAY AND FRIDAY...

.A STRONG LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT PORTIONS
OF SOUTHERN WISCONSIN THIS MORNING WITH GREATEST CONFIDENCE NORTH
OF MADISON AND MILWAUKEE. THUS HAVE CANCELLED THE EXCESSIVE HEAT
WARNINGS AND HEAT ADVISORIES IN THOSE LOCATIONS DUE TO THE
EXPECTED COOLER CONDITIONS.

OTHERWISE...A HOT AND HUMID AIRMASS WILL PREVAIL TODAY THROUGH
FRIDAY. HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL BE NEAR 100 DEGREES WITH VERY WARM
AND MUGGY CONDITIONS TONIGHT. IT IS POSSIBLE THUNDERSTORMS COULD
KEEP TEMPERATURES COOLER TODAY IF THE STORMS SWEEP THROUGH ALL OF
SOUTHERN WISCONSIN.

7 PM CDT FRIDAY.

* TIMING...12 NOON CDT THURSDAY UNTIL 7 PM CDT FRIDAY

* TEMPERATURE...DAYTIME HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S TO LOWER 90S TODAY
  AND FRIDAY.

* HEAT INDEX...HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL MAKE CONDITIONS FEEL WARMER
  THAN ACTUAL TEMPERATURES. MAXIMUM HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL BE
  AROUND 100 DEGREES.

* IMPACTS...A HEIGHTENED RISK OF HEAT-RELATED ILLNESS IS
  POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE WORKING OUTDOORS OR THOSE
  WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING. PEOPLE ON CERTAIN MEDICATIONS WILL
  BE MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE HEAT...AND SHOULD TAKE EXTRA
  PRECAUTIONS TO REMAIN COOL.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS...IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF
DANGEROUSLY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR. THE COMBINATION OF HOT
TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A DANGEROUS
SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE LIKELY. DRINK PLENTY OF
FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...
AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.
