FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MARQUETTE MI
606 AM EDT WED OCT 1 2014

...AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF UNSETTLED WEATHER IS SHAPING UP...INCLUDING
WIDESPREAD RAINFALL THURSDAY NIGHT... ..

.DISCUSSION...AN APPROACHING LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL BRING
SCATTERED SHOWERS INTO WESTERN UPPER MICHIGAN TODAY. THESE SHOWERS
WILL SPREAD EAST ACROSS THE REST OF UPPER MICHIGAN TONIGHT AND
THURSDAY. THEN...A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DEVELOPING ALONG THE TROUGH AND
TRACKING NORTH ACROSS CENTRAL UPPER MICHIGAN WILL BRING WIDESPREAD
RAINFALL TO UPPER MICHIGAN THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING. IN THE
WAKE OF THE LOW...THE WEATHER WILL TURN MUCH COLDER LATER FRIDAY
THROUGH THE WEEKEND WITH OCCASIONAL RAIN SHOWERS...ESPECIALLY NEAR
LAKE SUPERIOR AS THE AIR BECOMES COLD ENOUGH FOR LAKE EFFECT
PRECIPITATION. THE PRECIPITATION WILL MIX WITH OR EVEN CHANGE TO SNOW
AT TIMES OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY
NIGHT...ESPECIALLY OVER WESTERN UPPER MICHIGAN.
