                  ...2014 ANNUAL WEATHER SUMMARY...

ALTHOUGH 2014 WAS THE WARMEST YEAR ON RECORD IN TERMS OF GLOBAL
AVERAGE ANNUAL TEMPERATURE...THAT WAS NOT THE CASE IN UPPER
MICHIGAN. DUE TO THE NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT THAT PREVAILED MUCH OF THE
TIME BETWEEN A PERSISTENT RIDGE OVER WESTERN NORTH AMERICA AND A
TROUGH OVER THE EAST HALF OF THE CONTINENT...COLD CANADIAN AIRMASSES
WERE FREQUENT VISITORS TO THE UPPER GREAT LAKES. AS A RESULT...THE
MEAN 2014 TEMPERATURE AT MOST LOCATIONS IN THE U.P. ENDED UP FROM
ABOUT 3.5 TO 4.5 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.

2014 WAS ALSO A WET ONE...WITH ABOVE NORMAL ANNUAL SNOWFALL AS WELL.
IN FACT...SOME LOCATIONS ENDURED A TOP FIVE WETTEST AND SNOWIEST
YEAR. THE COMBINATION OF THIS ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION AND REDUCED
EVAPORATION TIED TO THE OVERALL CHILL ALLOWED WATER LEVELS OVER
LAKES SUPERIOR...MICHIGAN AND HURON TO RISE WELL ABOVE NORMAL BY THE
END OF THE YEAR.

...TOP 5 COLDEST YEAR AT MOST PLACES...
