URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Marquette MI
450 AM EDT Wed Apr 26 2017

...Freezing rain possible this morning with better chance of
freezing rain and icing tonight into Thursday morning...

.A series of low pressure systems lifting across the Upper Great
Lakes along with abundant moisture will result in widespread rain
across western Upper Michigan into Thursday morning. Since surface
temperatures will be around freezing there is an increased chance
of freezing rain with icing, briefly this morning, then again
tonight into Thursday morning. Eventually the mix of rain and
freezing rain will mix with and possibly change to snow on
Thursday morning. Depending on how much precipitation occurs, some
areas may see ice accumulations up to one-quarter of an inch with
higher amounts possible over some higher terrain locations from
Ironwood to Copper Harbor to Herman.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM EDT /6 PM CDT/
THIS EVENING TO 1 PM EDT /NOON CDT/ THURSDAY...

The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for icing, sleet and snow, which is in effect
from 7 PM EDT /6 PM CDT/ this evening to 1 PM EDT /noon CDT/
Thursday.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...

 * Rain this morning could mix with freezing rain at times through
mid morning over far western Upper Michigan before temperatures
warm into the middle to upper 30s.

 * Freezing rain is expected tonight into Thursday morning over
most of western Upper with ice accumulations of one-tenth to
one-quarter of an inch. Higher terrain locations from Ironwood
to Copper Harbor to Herman that will have temperatures below
freezing could see greater ice amounts. In Iron county, the
most freezing rain and icing will occur later tonight into
Thursday over western portions of the county, including Iron
   River.

 * Sleet and snow may mix with the rain and freezing rain late
tonight into Thursday morning, especially over far western
Upper Michigan. At this time, only minor snow accumulations are
   expected on Thursday.

IMPACTS...

 * Most of the ice accumulation into Thursday morning will occur
on elevated surfaces such as trees and power lines.

 * Untreated roads still may develop a thin glaze on them, so use
caution if traveling especially where air temperatures are at
   or below freezing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

 * A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet,
or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties.
