...LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM EST FRIDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MARQUETTE HAS ISSUED A LAKE
EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY FOR LAKE EFFECT SNOW...AND BLOWING
SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM EST FRIDAY.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...

 * LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS WILL INCREASE LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND
   THEN FALL HEAVY AT TIMES THIS EVENING. SNOW WILL DIMINISH AFTER
   MIDNIGHT.

 * STRONG AND GUSTY NORTHWESTERLY WINDS TO 45 MPH WILL RESULT IN
   AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...ESPECIALLY NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR
   AND IN OPEN AREAS FARTHER INLAND.

 * PLAN ON TOTAL SNOW AMOUNTS THROUGH LATE TONIGHT OF 3 TO 5 INCHES.
   THE MOST SNOW WILL OCCUR IN THE SNOW BELTS FROM DEERTON AND CHATHAM
   TO SHINGLETON AND MELSTRAND.

IMPACTS...

 * THE MAIN IMPACT WILL BE TO TRAVEL CONDITIONS AS VISIBILITY WILL BE
   REDUCED TO LESS THAN A HALF MILE AT TIMES DUE TO THE FALLING SNOW
   AND BLOWING SNOW.

 * ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

 * A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY MEANS LAKE EFFECT SNOW AND BLOWING
   SNOW IS FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT IN SOME AREAS.
