456 FNUS55 KBOU 010848 FWFBOU Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO 248 AM MDT Wed May 1 2024 .DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Gusty south to southeast winds will proceed a cold this morning over eastern Colorado. This will transport moisture into the area. The cold front tracks south across Colorado this afternoon bringing gusty north winds. Scattered to numerous showers will form behind the front late this afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms are also expected. Showers end late tonight as drier moves into Colorado after midnight. LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Thursday through Sunday... Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible Thursday which may relative humidities just above Red Flag criteria. Elevated fire weather conditions are possible for the areas in the southern foothills and South Park Thursday afternoon. Humidities between 16-19 percent and wind gusts up to 35 mph could occur through Thursday evening. Friday and Saturday, scattered showers are possible which should ease fire weather concerns. Smoke dispersal reaches good to excellent for the foothills and mountains both Thursday and Friday.
