Flood Statement

.The Wapsipinicon River continues to rise as water from upstream makes
its way down the river system. Major flooding will occur at Independence
in the next day, with significant flooding expected downstream through
the next week.

River forecasts include past precipitation and forecast rainfall for
the next 24 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find an
alternate route. Turn around, don`t drown.

...Flood Warning now in effect until Wednesday morning...

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Wapsipinicon River at Independence.
* Until Wednesday morning.
* At 10:30 AM Sunday the stage was 13.9 feet...and rising.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Recent activity...the river continues to rise quickly.
* Forecast...Rise to 18.5 feet Monday morning, then fall below flood stage
  Wednesday morning.
* Impact...At  18.0 feet...Water affects 1st Street and reaches the
  bottom of the Iowa Highway 150 bridge deck.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Wapsipinicon River near Anamosa Shaw Rd.
* Until Friday evening.
* At 10:15 AM Sunday the stage was 8.0 feet...and rising.
* Flood stage is 14.5 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Recent activity...the river has been slowly rising.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage Tuesday morning...and continue
  rising to 21.9 feet Wednesday. The river will fall below flood stage Friday.
* Impact...At  21.6 feet...County Road X64 between Oxford Junction
  and Oxford Mills is closed.

* Until further notice.
* At 10:30 AM Sunday the stage was 11.1 feet...and falling.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Recent activity...the river had its first crest and is now falling.
* Forecast...The river will fall for the next few days before
  beginning to rise again, when major flooding is expected. It is
  expected to rise to 13.3 feet next Sunday.
* Impact...At  13.0 feet...Water affects many residences along the
  river.
