FLOOD STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE QUAD CITIES IA IL
350 PM CDT TUE SEP 27 2016

.Updated flood information for the Cedar and Iowa Rivers. Vinton
on the Cedar River continues to fall and is forecast to drop
below major flood stage Wednesday afternoon or evening.
Cedar Rapids has crested at 22 feet (unofficially) and is now
slowly falling. The forecast is to remain above 21.5 feet into
this evening. Major flooding is still likely further downstream on
the Cedar and on the Iowa River at Conesville, Columbus Junction,
and Wapello.

River forecasts include past precipitation and forecast rainfall for
the next 48 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find an
alternate route. Turn around, don`t drown.

* At  3:15 PM Tuesday the stage was 20.5 feet...and falling.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring.
* Forecast...Fall below flood stage Friday evening.
* Impact...At  19.5 feet...Water is at the bottom of the Iowa Highway
  150 bridge.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Cedar River at Cedar Rapids.
* Until Sunday evening.
* At  3:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 21.8 feet...and slowly falling.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring.
* Forecast...Fall below flood stage Sunday evening.
* Impact...At  20.2 feet...Water reaches the bottom of the 3rd Avenue
  bridge deck and affects several homes along the river on 1st
  Street NW in Cedar Rapids.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Cedar River near Conesville.
* Until further notice.
* At  3:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 14.9 feet...and rising.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise to 17.8 feet Friday morning...then begin falling.
* Impact...At  17.0 feet...Water affects permanent structures and
  roads in campgrounds just north of I-80 along the river. Water is
  also on the lowest areas of Atalissa Road.

* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise to 17.3 feet Tuesday morning.
* Impact...At  16.0 feet...Water affects agricultural land along the
  river. Water is several feet deep in places.

* Impact...At  15.2 feet...Water affects the south approach to the
  Iowa Highway 99 bridge near Oakville.
