FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE QUAD CITIES IA IL
1026 AM CDT THU SEP 22 2016

.Repeated rounds of very heavy rain have occurred over the headwaters
of the Cedar River over the past three days. A widespread 3 to 5 inches
of rain has fallen across this region with isolated areas receiving
6 to 9 inches. These extreme rainfall amounts will result in
significant river level rises through the upcoming weekend and into
next week.

Confidence: Moderate on river levels reaching major flood
stage, but low to moderate on the crest forecast. Persons impacted
by flooding along the Cedar River should take the necessary
precautions to mitigate the impacts of major river flooding.

River forecasts include past precipitation and forecast rainfall for
the next 48 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find an
alternate route. Turn around, don`t drown.

The National Weather Service in Quad Cities has issued a
* Flood Warning for
  The Cedar River at Vinton.
* Until Wednesday.
* At  9:15 AM Thursday the stage was 11.0 feet...and falling.
* Flood stage is  15 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Quickly rise above flood stage Saturday morning...and
  continue rising to 22.1 feet Sunday evening. Fall below flood stage
  Wednesday.
* Impact...At  19.5 feet...Water is at the bottom of the Iowa Highway
  150 bridge.

* Until further notice.
* At  9:00 AM Thursday the stage was 9.4 feet...and steady.
* Flood stage is  12 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Quickly rise above flood stage Sunday morning...and
  continue rising to 24.1 feet Tuesday morning.
* Impact...At  24.2 feet...Water reaches the bottom of the 1st Avenue
  bridge deck in downtown Cedar Rapids.
