...SUDDEN WIND SHIFT WITH THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...
  Coastal waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC out 20 nm...

At 739 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms, capable of
producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were located
in Wilmington, moving east at 30 knots.

Locations impacted include...
10 Mile Boxcars, Liberty Ship, Dallas Rock, Billy Murrell Reef,
Masonboro Sea Buoy, Harris Reef, 10 Mile Rocks, Kure Beach Point,
Topsail Boxcars, Topsail Tire Reef, Buoy Off Carolina Beach, 5 Mile
Boxcars, Kure Beach, and Topsail Beach.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass. If caught on the open water,
prepare for deteriorating conditions. Make sure you and your crew are
wearing properly fitted life jackets.
