Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
814 PM MDT Sat Apr 13 2024

...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for portions of the area
for Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening...

...A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for the San Luis Valley
and the southeast Plains for Monday afternoon through Monday evening...

.Discussion...

Critical fire weather conditions will return over northern El Paso
and Pueblo Counties, and the San Luis Valley tomorrow afternoon and
evening. Wind gusts ranging from 15 to 30 mph are expected with
relative humidity values well below 15%. Southern El Paso County
could also see periods spotty critical fire weather conditions on Sunday,
but are not meeting criteria for highlights at this time.

Monday will be the most widespread fire danger day of the forecast
period, with southwest winds gusting up to 50 mph and the overall
driest conditions expected for our plains. A cold front will arrive sometime
Monday night or Tuesday, which could bring a brief increase in
humidity (and a break from fire weather) for Tuesday, but models
suggest that critical fire weather conditions return for the second
half of the week.

Very good to excellent smoke ventilation rates are expected across
the plains this afternoon, with good to very good rates across the high
country and San Luis Valley. Poor vent rates are expected overnight.
For tomorrow afternoon, similar to today, excellent vent rates are
expected across the plains with good to very good rates for the
San Luis Valley.
