SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA BEACHES...

...POTENTIAL DAMAGING HIGH SURF LATE FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...

.AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF HIGH SURF WILL COME TO AREA BEACHES
TODAY THROUGH MONDAY. THIS LARGE LONG PERIOD WEST SWELL HAS THE
POTENTIAL TO BRING THE HIGHEST SURF SEEN IN RECENT YEARS TO THE
REGION. VERY LARGE SURF WILL CREATE DANGEROUS OCEAN CONDITIONS AND
HAZARDS TO BEACH AREAS...ESPECIALLY FOR THE CENTRAL COAST. THE
SURF WILL PEAK LATE FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY THEN SUBSIDE THROUGH
MONDAY. HIGH SURF WARNINGS WILL LIKELY BE ISSUED FOR MOST IF NOT
ALL COASTAL AREAS AS WE DRAW CLOSER TO THE EVENT.

  30 FEET BY LATE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. THE SURF WILL DIMINISH
  SUNDAY AND MONDAY BUT WILL REMAIN ABOVE HIGH SURF THRESHOLDS.

* IMPACTS...LARGE AND POWERFUL SURF WITH DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS
  AND BREAKING WAVES ON ROCKS AND JETTIES. DAMAGE TO PIERS IS
  POSSIBLE ON SATURDAY...AS WELL AS COASTAL FLOODING OF BEACH
  PARKING LOTS AND WALKWAYS. MORRO BAY HARBOR WILL HAVE BREAKING
  WAVES ACROSS THE ENTRANCE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF AND RIP CURRENTS WILL
MAKE SWIMMING AND ROCK JETTIES DANGEROUS.

REMEMBER...SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD. IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT
REMAIN CALM. DON`T FIGHT THE CURRENT. SWIM IN A DIRECTION
FOLLOWING THE SHORELINE. WHEN OUT OF THE CURRENT...SWIM BACK TO
SHORE. IF TIRED...FLOAT OR TREAD WATER UNTIL OUT OF THE RIP
CURRENT. IF UNABLE TO ESCAPE...FACE THE SHORE AND CALL OR WAVE
