Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
215 PM PDT Sat Sep 23 2017

...A LITTLE WARMER SUNDAY...
...OFFSHORE FLOW PATTERN DEVELOPING LATE TUESDAY...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...High pressure centered offshore today
will drift closer to the coast Sunday. A weak warm front brushes the
north zones Monday. High pressure strengthens Tuesday for the start
of a much warmer and drier pattern. Offshore flow is expected to
develop Tuesday night and continue through at least Thursday
morning. A weak system moves across the region Friday.

.DISCUSSION...An upper ridge centered offshore today will drift
closer to the coastline Sunday. Expect slightly warmer and drier
conditions Sunday. A warm front moves across Western Washington and
far Northwest Oregon Monday. The north zones are likely to see some
light precipitation from this feature. High pressure strengthens
Tuesday and will hold through late next week. A surface thermal
trough over Northern California and Southwest Oregon will expand
north Tuesday night. This will induce offshore low-level flow. The
offshore pattern peaks Wednesday and then weakens Wednesday night or
Thursday morning. Daytime temperatures Wednesday and Thursday will
be several degrees above normal. A weak system moves across the area
Friday. That system will result in a shift to onshore low-level flow.
