FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST VIRGINIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHARLESTON WV
1041 AM EDT FRI OCT 31 2014

.DISCUSSION...
AHEAD OF A STRONG COLD FRONT...RAIN SHOWERS WILL INCREASE TODAY FROM
WEST TO EAST. THE COLD FRONT PASSES LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS
EVENING.

THE COLDEST AIR BEHIND THIS FRONT WILL DROP SOUTHEAST THROUGH
KENTUCKY INTO EXTREME SOUTHERN WEST VIRGINIA AND SOUTHWEST
VIRGINIA...AND INITIALLY MISS SOUTHEAST OHIO AND NORTHERN WEST
VIRGINIA TONIGHT.

SO THE BEST CHANCE OF ACCUMULATING SNOW OVERNIGHT TONIGHT IS ACROSS
THE COUNTIES NEAR THE KENTUCKY...WEST VIRGINIA...AND VIRGINIA
BORDER.

RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE SATURDAY...TAPERING OFF FROM
WEST TO EAST INTO SATURDAY NIGHT. SNOW SHOWERS MAY LINGERING INTO
SUNDAY ACROSS THE MOUNTAINOUS COUNTIES OF WEST VIRGINIA.

GUSTY WINDS SATURDAY WILL DRIVE EVEN COLDER AIR IN...WITH MANY FOLKS
SEEING THEIR LOWEST THERMOMETER READINGS SO FAR THIS SEASON...COME
EARLY SUNDAY MORNING.

THE COLD IS FAIRLY SHORT LIVED HOWEVER AS WE WILL WARM TO NEAR
NORMAL VALUES EARLY NEXT WEEK AS A HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM SLIDES OFF
THE ATLANTIC COAST.

A COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH LATER TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...
ACCOMPANIED BY MILD TEMPERATURES AND SCATTERED RAIN SHOWERS.
