...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MDT MONDAY LOW RELATIVE
HUMIDITY AND GUSTY WIND...

.DISCUSSION...
Southerly winds of 5-10, gusting to 20 mph continue the rest of
the afternoon. Temperatures peak for a very hot afternoon due to
effects from compressional warming with high temperatures nearing
in the upper 90s to around 100. The combination of hot
temperatures, persistent south winds, and minimum relative
humidity values as low as 10 percent have continued the critical
fire weather conditions.

Tonight: A low pressure storm system moves east across the Canada
prairie provinces, sending a cold front south towards Northeast
Montana. Additionally an embedded disturbance in the southwest
upper flow is expected to swing across eastern Montana tonight.
This could initiate isolated thunderstorms nearby, possibly dry,
and increase southerly wind significantly due to a low-level
850mb 40 knot jet that could easily be mixed down to the surface.
So there is a potential for explosive fire growth from those
possible strong erratic nocturnal winds.

Monday: After the cold front from the north passes through the
area, wind will shift around to the northwest and increase to
around 15-25 mph, with higher gusts. Scattered light rain showers
and thunderstorms may also be generated Monday evening, which
could cause also erratic wind. Otherwise, most surface winds will
diminish during the evening as it veers more to the northeast.
