...OPERATION OF THE MOOSE CREEK DAM IN NORTH POLE BEGAN AT 6 PM
TODAY...

THE U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS ALASKA DISTRICT IS CURRENTLY OPERATING
THE MOOSE CREEK DAM. FLOOD CONTROL GATES AT THE DAM STARTED REGULATING
THE CHENA RIVER A 6:00 PM ON 20 JULY 2016. THE DAM WILL BE REGULATING
THE CHENA RIVER SO FLOWS DO NOT EXCEED 12000 CUBIC FEET PER SECOND IN
DOWNTOWN FAIRBANKS. THE CHENA RIVER IN NORTH POLE MAY EXPERIENCE
MINOR FLOODING AND GROUNDWATER WILL RISE TO NEAR THE GROUND
SURFACE FOR SEVERAL THOUSAND FEET WEST OF THE MOOSE CREEK DAM.
RIVER NAVIGATION THROUGH THE MOOSE CREEK DAM IS UNAVAILABLE DURING
OPERATIONS.
