FIRE DANGER STATEMENT

...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER THREAT THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING
ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE BRUSH COUNTRY...

THE COMBINATION OF MODERATE AND OCCASIONALLY GUSTY SOUTHERLY
WINDS...LOW AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND DRY FUELS WILL RESULT
IN ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS OVER PRIMARILY THE BRUSH
COUNTRY OF SOUTH TEXAS.

SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON TO 10 TO 20
MPH...WITH A FEW GUSTS TO BETWEEN 20 AND 25 MPH. RELATIVE HUMIDITY
LEVELS WILL DECREASE TO BETWEEN 30 AND 40 PERCENT OVER THE
NORTHERN AND EASTERN BRUSH COUNTRY WITH A FEW LOCATIONS BRIEFLY
EXPERIENCING CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS. CONDITIONS WILL
IMPROVE THIS EVENING AS RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES INCREASE.

RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO EXERCISE CARE WITH RESPECT TO ALL OUTDOOR
ACTIVITIES THAT COULD INADVERTENTLY CAUSE WILDFIRES. AVOID THE USE
OF WELDING OR GRINDING EQUIPMENT NEAR WEEDS...GRASS AND DRY BRUSH.
IN ADDITION...AVOID PARKING VEHICLES IN TALL...DRY GRASS AND WEEDS
THAT COULD BE IGNITED. DO NOT TOSS CIGARETTE BUTTS ON THE GROUND.
REPORT WILDFIRES QUICKLY TO THE NEAREST FIRE DEPARTMENT OR LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICE.
