...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED FOR PUERTO RICO`S
SOUTH COAST...

DRY SAHARAN AIR ABOVE THE SURFACE AND BREEZY CONDITIONS ON THE
SOUTH COAST WILL CAUSE FIRES TO BE MORE EASILY IGNITED AND
SUSTAINED ON THE SOUTHERN COAST OF PUERTO RICO. RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES WILL APPROACH 45 PERCENT NEAR CAMP SANTIAGO AND WINDS
WILL LIKELY EXCEED 18 MPH FOR SEVERAL HOURS DURING THE DAY. FEW
IF ANY SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED FOR THIS AREA TODAY. SOME AREAS OF THE
SOUTHERN COAST HAVE HAD LITTLE OR NO RAINFALL IN THE LAST 7 DAYS
AND LESS THAN 10 PERCENT OF NORMAL DURING THE LAST 30 DAYS.

FIRE AND EMERGENCY OFFICIALS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT WEATHER
CONDITIONS ARE BECOMING MORE CONDUCIVE FOR THE IGNITION AND
SPREAD OF WILDFIRES.

FIRE DANGER STATEMENTS ARE ISSUED WHEN FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE APPROACHING...BUT NOT MEETING OR EXCEEDING...RED FLAG WARNING
