FOR WINDY AND VERY DRY CONDITIONS ACROSS SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO,
FAR NORTHWEST PERMIAN BASIN AND ALONG AND WEST OF THE PECOS
RIVER...

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT SATURDAY AFTERNOON FOR WINDY AND
VERY DRY CONDITIONS ACROSS THE GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS...

.Gusty west to northwest winds will occur today and bring very
dry air over the region. Wind speeds look to reach and exceed
20 mph sustained over portions of the region as relative humidity
drops to near 5 to 10 percent areawide resulting in critical fire
weather conditions. Conditions will improve this evening as winds
diminish and humidity increases. Dry air will be present across
western portions of the area on Saturday with winds in the
Guadalupe Mountains over 20 mph during the afternoon.

RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 15 PERCENT OR LESS, 20 FOOT WINDS OF 20 MPH
OR MORE AND HIGH FIRE DANGER...

The National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa has issued a Red
Flag Warning, which is in effect from 11 AM to 6 PM MST Saturday.

* TEMPERATURES: Around 5 degrees above normal.

* HUMIDITY: 5 to 10 percent.

* FIRE DANGER: High to very high.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...  This is a very dangerous
fire weather situation. Gusty winds and very low relative
humidities combined with above normal temperatures will create
weather conditions favorable for the multiple occurrence of large
fires.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong
winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute
to dangerous fire behavior.
